Dan and Charlie, founders of The Cellar Door, met in 2014 while working at a popular South Devon beach restaurant. Charlie began her career in the hospitality sector, working in hotels & restaurants in Dartmouth, as well as chalets in the French and Swiss Alps and on luxury yachts around the world. She later moved into freelancing, providing bespoke catering for private clients, athletes, and large events. As a skilled head chef, Charlie has extensive experience in overseeing large-scale events, including weddings and exclusive private functions, all while balancing motherhood, and her passion for sports and the outdoors. Her expertise includes nutrition and sports science, which she integrates into her bespoke catering services. |

Born and raised in South Devon, Dan’s two-decade-long career in the catering industry has allowed him to foster close relationships with the region's finest local suppliers and producers. From starting his career in hotel kitchens to working as a chef across the world, from Australia to the French Alps, Dan brings a broad and diverse skill set to his private catering services. His commitment to using fresh, local ingredients ensures that every event, whether it’s a Devon wedding, private party, or corporate gathering, is a culinary experience to remember. For the past five years, we’ve nurtured our organic kitchen garden, steadily working towards self-sufficiency in our vegetables to ensure our menus are as local, seasonal, and sustainable as possible. Our commitment to sustainability is reflected in every dish we create, from Devon wedding feasts to intimate private dinners. While we once raised pigs for free-range pork and charcuterie, our animals now enjoy life as pets. Guests visiting us for a wedding tasting may even meet our charming pot-bellied pigs, three dogs, Manx sheep, and Muscovy ducks. |
